OUR STORY

LIFE. STYLE. SARTO.

SARTO is a quarterly publication that seeks to explore the habits and habitats of refined gentlemen,

connecting the dots between the worlds of style, (not to be confused with fashion) grooming, fine dining,

fine drinking and fine living reported by people who know them and live them. By observing and learning

what motivates others, we find new inspirations for ourselves.

SARTO is ultimately designed to inform, intrigue and entertain. To review and reveal how these worlds

and the individuals leading the way intersect and influence the lives of men today. SARTO is never

about the most expensive – but the most unique, at whatever the price point. How to look at things

in a new way, take inspiration from others and make it your own.

It isn’t even always about acquiring new things but more about learning to live with and draw

inspiration from what may already be right in front of us.

Issue 5

In this issue, Christian Barker explores the world of jeweler MICHAEL KANNERS in ART ON HIS SLEEVE an up-close look at the delicate, intricate creative process involved in creating some of the world’s most unique, fine cufflinks. Mr. Barker also unveils the latest in his series SARTO SAPIENS – The Lady In Tailoring.

Legendary menswear editor and author G. Bruce Boyer profiles a legend in the making – JAKE GRANTHAM – discussing the vision behind his London-based company Anglo-Italian. A gentleman and a company pushing the envelope in design and sustainability in menswear. SARTO contributor Eric Twardzik then turns the tabes on Mr. Boyer – from interviewer to subject as they discuss Bruce’s latest passion project – a series of essays on the music and the artists that have influenced him over the years. SARTO is honored to present excerpts from this unique series.

In SARTO ATELIER, writer Matt Spaiser speaks with the dynamic design  duo DANIEL STROUPE and EDDIE POWERS – the gentlemen behind the creation of some of the world’s most beautifully-crafted shirts at the Turnbull & Asser townhouse in New York City. SARTO ESSENTIALS showcases the idea of the evident hand of the craftsman in the objects they create, the one item you need to be ready to party anywhere, scents that provide allure and attraction and a cocktail that is the perfect  transition from winter into spring, and a definitive (in this writer’s
humble opinion) Lobster roll.

Steven D. Elliott sits down with entrepreneur and aficionado KYLE GELLIS of WARPED CIGARS to discuss his journey and his passion for the products he creates all while maintaining a unique style philosophy in this issue’s installment of SARTO STYLE.

THE LAST WORD for this installment is wide – as in ties. A brief look at the history and the future (is it time for a proportional shift?) of the kipper tie.
