Unmistakably Manolo

By Eric Twardzik

Manolo Costa has a signature style for himself, his clients and his business. In this issue Eric Twardzik reveals how and why the self-described “architect” of Manolo Costa New York started his luxury bespoke business and what his views are on elegance, sex appeal and the beauty of simplicity in tailored clothing. One thing becomes immediately clear, the man has a distinctive point of view.

There is, of course, a particular aesthetic to the clothes. Costa describes the house style as taking inspiration from the American tailoring of the ‘20s and ‘30s, which was typified by soft, natural shoulders and a structured, masculine shape. And while Costa’s preferences lean toward simplicity, they’re nothing if not detail-oriented, and that house DNA is present in every considered feature, making each garment “Unmistakably Manolo.”
